Instagram has released a video chat feature on the most recent app update for most Instagram users just last week. With this new release, you can now make video calls to your friends and followers the same way you can send messages to them. Basically, you can access this feature through your direct message inbox through Instagram in the same chat as your friends. Seems simple enough?
Apparently, not everyone is down to have the video chat featured set to “on”. Luckily, there’s a way to turn off incoming video chats on Instagram if you’re one of those users who would like more privacy.
Here’s how to turn off incoming video chats on Instagram:
Open your Instagram app, go to your profile, and click on the top left three bar menu icon
Click on Settings
3. Scroll down to “Notifications” and click “Push Notifications”
4. Scroll down to the bottom where you see “Video Chats” and click “Off” or “From People I Follow” if you don’t want to get video chat requests from strangers.
5. With a few simple clicks, you can customize your messaging experience on Instagram and never worry about getting a chat from anyone, or anyone that you aren’t following. It’s a bit of added privacy that some users might like to have as peace of mind.
Here is the full how-to video as well.
